The Jules Treccia Canapa hat has a small 4.5 cm brim and a 3 cm tone-on-tone canneté band. The production of Borsalino straw hats begins in Ecuador, where the local straw is made from the leaves of the toquilla palm, boiled and then left to dry in the sun. This process can take up to six months. Skilled Ecuadorian artisans weave the plant fibres by hand, making partial cloches of the highest quality. After careful quality control, the cloches are sent to the Maison in Alexandria, where the regular manufacturing processes, which are very strict and complex, take place. Once the ribbon has been added, the brim is further stiffened before the hat is ready for the final stages: decoration, stitching, inspection and canning - all done manually. The story of the Panama is truly enthralling.
